Obama Places A 26-Year-Old Director of Faith-Based Office In the White House

Submitted by David Lawrence on March 14, 2009 – 10:27 AMNo Comment

President Barack Obama has placed Joshua DuBois, a 26-year-old pentecostal minister and former associate pastor to lead the White House revamp of the Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

I might not agree with everything politically, but this decision to put a 26-year-old to head the Faith-Based initiatives from the White House inObamaDuboisWashington D.C. communicates volumes to me in where we are as a culture and a nation. My only question is, will our American churches be ready and equipped for what’s coming?

Just a year ago, we had the first African-American and first female running for President of the United States. Now, we have 26-year-old  sitting in a high ranking position in the White House and not just any high position, but overseeing Faith-Based initiatives and partnerships.

What does this mean? Be ready for the leaders of the church to get younger and bolder. If you still believe that you have to wait till you are least 45 -years-old to lead a church. Those days are gone. If you still believe that all women should never preach or have a position to lead on a church staff. Those days are gone as well. And, I have to say, I’m glad there gone. It’s kind of ironic, but I believe God will use the world to help the church shake off their stupid legalistic mindsets they have tried to hold onto for years.

If a woman can run for president of the Unites States, then I think a woman should be able to preach and lead in the local church. If a 26-year-old can lead the Faith-Based initiatives from the White House, then I think a 26-year-old should be able to step out in obedience and fulfill God’s plan for his/her life whatever that is, no matter how big it is. What are the young leaders and female leaders doing in your church today? If it ain’t much, (in other words look at your churches fruit) then your church has unintentionally become a barrier, instead of choosing to lead as a initiator for the coming advancements and changes in ministry for the next generation.
